Last week, the city of Lisbon, Portugal, hosted the 9th World One Health Congress (WOHC), a major global gathering dedicated to integrated human, animal, and environmental health approaches (One Health).
The event brought together researchers, experts, and organizations from around the world. On this occasion, our team member Anthony Nyerere – a PhD student from the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) – delivered an insightful oral presentation highlighting the progress and findings of the NeuroSolve project.
“The Wealth Paradox” and Behavioral Sustainability
During his presentation, Anthony Nyerere shared a compelling study titled: “The Wealth Paradox: Survival Analysis of Behavioral Sustainability in Taenia solium Preventive Practices, Tanzania”.
The research fits seamlessly into NeuroSolve’s mission, tackling complex health challenges associated with neurocysticercosis and the prevention of Taenia solium.
By analyzing longitudinal data from 521 households across the Kongwa and Songwe Districts in Tanzania, the study evaluated the long-term sustainability of key preventive behaviors, including latrine use, pig confinement, and household water treatment.
